The German Cardiac Society (DGK) and the publisher Springer are seeking applications and nominations for the position of a Co-Editor-in-Chief for the journal Clinical Research in Cardiology.
07.02.2025
Clinical Research in Cardiology is the official journal of the DGK. The journal provides a broad overview on timely topics in clinical cardiovascular research via original research, review articles and letters. The journal receives submissions from all over the world on all aspects of clinical cardiology, angiology, heart and vascular surgery, and provides insights into the diagnosis and therapy of heart and vascular diseases.
The journal will be run under the leadership of two Co-Editors-in-Chief (EiCs) who will be supported by Assistant Editors and an Editorial Board nominated by the EiCs in close consultation with the publisher and DGK.
The Editor-in-Chief accounts for the content of the journal. This includes acquiring, reviewing and collating manuscripts for publication in a timely manner as well as corresponding with the Editorial Board, reviewers and authors. In addition, the EiC should be interested in building strong relationships with experts in the field to proactively attract content and to arrange and commission special issues and/or collections on topics of interest to the international community of clinical cardiologists. The EiC adheres to the standards of good editorial practice, publication ethics and the publisher’s code of conduct.
The ideal candidate should have a vision on how to lead the journal, grow the published content and further increase the visibility and reputation of the journal in the international community. A successful applicant must be a member of the German Cardiac Society (DGK) and is expected to work closely with the global publisher Springer on all aspects of publishing. The candidate must be actively engaged in clinical and scientific work. The applicant's scientific focus should complement that of his/her co-Editor. Experience as an editor, associate editor or productive editorial board member of a peer-reviewed journal would be an advantage.
The term of service for this position starts as soon as possible in 2025 and expires on December 31st, 2029. An extension of two terms of two years is possible. The successful candidate will be appointed as Editor-in-Chief by Springer in consultation and agreement with the DGK.
Each interested individual is invited to apply via e-mail. The application should include a:
Dr. Sebastian Frühwirth, Senior Publisher Journals Medicine & Life Sciences at sebastian.fruehwirth@springernature.com.
Submissions should be received by 15.03.2025.
